Structural Journey

The structural integrity of the Growsphere was possible with the resources provided by Skyline College & Energize Colleges.

Structure: Headliner

Where did the Growsphere idea come from?

Fall 2019 the idea was presented by Joshua Bonneson. Then became an integral project for the Energize Colleges internship opportunity.

Where was the parts made?

Every part of the Growsphere was created at Skyline within the Fabrication Lab.

What tools and programs were utilized to create the structure?

  • AutoCAD

  • VCarve Design Program

  • Shopbot CNC Machine

  • Hand tools

  • Power tools

What is AutoCAD?

AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) program used for 2-D and 3-D design and drafting. AutoCAD is developed and marketed by Autodesk Inc. and was one of the first CAD programs that could be executed on personal computers.

This software is also free to use for students.

What the VCarve Design Program?

VCarve Design Program is what was utilized to interpret the drafts of the Growsphere to be cut by the CNC Machine.

What is a Shopbot CNC Machine
